Short Review Loyalty and Lies by L.A. Cotton

Eighteen-year-old Savanah Parry just moved three thousand miles across state to escape. The memories…the whispers…the pain.

Chastity Falls Academy is supposed to be her fresh start; her salvation. And when Ana meets mysterious Jackson, she begins to think it is. She hasn’t smiled in almost sixteen months; not since the night her life changed forever, and despite her guilt…her loyalty, Ana can’t deny that Jackson is breathing life back into her. With Jackson by her side, Ana wants to believe she can heal and move on. But she isn’t the only one living a lie, and the small private Academy has secrets of its own. All is not what it seems, and Ana is about to find herself in a tangled web of lies; fighting for survival, again.

Loyalties will be tested, lies will be told. Welcome to Chastity Falls.

My Review & Thoughts...

I really liked how this book started, it was mysterious, edgy, and Savanah was a likable lead - but then it just got weird... If I had to hear Ana's roomie one more time 'say' 'chica' - it was over (20 times over) used. Every sentence of the roomie included 'chica' - it was annoying and very distracting.

I had high expectations of the BIG secret. I even thought hmm maybe there's some paranormal aspect mixed in, it sure did feel like it. No, a big disappointed. I have no clue what kind of brotherhood it is was whatever the big secret was/is because I still don't get it. The ending was another disappointment - after all that build up and it to another weird 'cult' scene that had me cursing the book. It lasted one chapter and boom all is good in Savanah's world. The story had so much potential in becoming an amazing story till the awkward story of Braiden ownership of Jackson... Maybe because the biggest secret wasn't revealed in this book had me lost and therefor has to be mid average read unfinished with possibly the biggest cliffhanger I've read.
