Review Rebel (Dead Man's Ink 1) by Callie Hart

Sometimes, you don't mean to become another person. Sometimes the choice is made for you, and pretending is the only thing that keeps you going. When Alexis Romera is taken and her kidnappers find her fake ID in her purse, she must become Sophia in order to keep her family safe. Revealing her real identity to the man she's sold to would be easy enough, but can she trust him? Hell bent on revenging the murder of his uncle, Rebel doesn't seem all that interested in playing things safe.

In fact, nothing about the secretive, dark and brooding MC president seems safe at all.

What do you do when the man who raised you is murdered, and the only witness is kidnapped girl who's being sold as a sex slave? You buy her, of course. As president to the most powerful motorcycle club in America, Rebel isn't lacking in power. There are strings the man can pull, and entire criminal organisations and corporate businesses alike would fall to their knees. However, along with such power comes intense interest. The DEA have their eye fixed solely on the MC...and they're just waiting for Rebel to trip up.

Getting Sophia to testify is the only way to bring the Los Oscuros cartel down. The beautiful, dark haired, dark eyed woman is belligerent and uncooperative and unlikely to bend to his will, but Rebel has a few tricks up his sleeve to make her compliant--he'll charm her until she's bending over backwards to please him.

Of course, falling for her might cause a few hiccups along the way...

My Review & Thoughts:
Cover: Meh...not crazy about  it
Genre(s): Adult Romance, MC, New Adult
Warning: Book contains Adult context, Dark elements (hints in the blurb- sex slave)

Wow! This book started off kicking and screaming! I was lost into it and couldn't wait to read what was coming next.
Sofia is kidnapped in broad daylight by Los Oscuros cartel. She's witness a murder, been hit for the first time in her life, and unconscious in her own throw up in an unknown van. Sofia's life does a 360, going to become someones property as a sex slave with no hope of a rescue. Rebel's uncle has been murdered by Los Oscuros and he find's out they have the witness, Sofia, being sold. He gets a hold of her and tries to convenience her to testify. It's not so easy, Los Oscuros threatened Sofia's family's lives if she ever opens her mouth. The only card Sofia can play with is her name...Sofia is not her real name and she will do anything to keep it that way.

This was an exciting and tense read. Callie Hart writing just flowed and created an amazing vision to go with her creativity. In this MC book, it's not focused in the MC club house. It is more of the story of Rebel's history and Sofia joining the ride, which I liked because it was different.

Sofia, she kept mentioning Stockholm Syndrome, convincing herself and readers that she is NOT one of those girls. I think at times it was bit forced. Sofia is a psychology student so 'Duh' she knows the symptoms and she is not one of those chics!
What I liked about this book:
->> Rebel was manly alpha with a jacked up past!
-->>I must say, I was digging the Colombian 'Queen' aka 'Mother', she demanded and demented in the head but it's what made her character.
-->> The story and plot itself had me on my 'toes'! I still can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series

The steamy scene... 'meh' I didn't care or care not for it, I was more invested in to the whole story than the 'getting down' scene. The Author leaves us hanging in this book AND right when it's about to pick back up again!

Cliffhanger Warning
Highly Recommended Read
