Review & Interview You Are Mine by Janeal Falor

Serena knows a few simple things. She will always be owned by a warlock. She will never have freedom. She will always do what her warlock wishes, regardless of how inane, frivolous, or cruel it is. And if she doesn’t follow the rules, she will be tarnished. Spelled to be bald, inked, and barren for the rest of her life—worth less than the shadow she casts.

Then her ownership is won by a barbarian from another country. With the uncertainty that comes from belonging to a new warlock, Serena questions if being tarnished is really worse than being owned by a barbarian, and tempts fate by breaking the rules. When he looks the other way instead of punishing her, she discovers a new world. The more she ventures into the forbidden, the more she learns of love and a freedom just out of reach. Serena longs for both. But in a society where women are only ever property, hoping for more could be deadly.

My review & thoughts
Genre(s) Fantasy Romance, Teen, Young Adult
Cover: Beautiful cover
Tags: warlocks, magic, action, romance, fantasy world

*warning, women are processions in this book. This may not be a book for some readers that have strong views on that. With that being said, this is the Authors story and how she wanted it to be told.

A new world, Chardonia, where woman follow a book of etiquettes and how to obey men. Where women are judged off the power and magic in their blood. The higher the quality is, they will be sold or bought by a greater Warlock!
Serena has great blood in her. Her father, Chancellor, is power and money hungry willing to sell his daughter to anyone with it. She is sold to the most vile warlock of them all until she is rescued by the mysterious Envadi.

What I liked about You Are Mine
  • Storyline is unique and well written. All of it is answered in this book. Plot build up is great, not to slow but it makes you not want to to put the book down!
  • Warlocks! Who would of thought they would be the next HOT thing!
  • Serena and all of her ladies that are introduced in this book
  • Serena herself! She makes a change into strong willed woman.
  • Zade! He's a mystery in the book, showing little bits here and there that makes you want to know more
It sounds like a promising series to come! I can't wait to see what the next book may bring (second book is available now). This book can be read as a standalone.

Thank you Janeal Falor for letting me ask some questions on your awesome book and plans!

Interview with author
What inspired you to write in the fantasy world of warlocks?
I had been reading a bunch of arranged marriage books when I thought, what if these girls were being sold off for something besides money? Something they had but couldn't control? Something like...magic! From there the fantasy world of warlocks naturally followed.

Book number two is out, do you have an idea of how many you plan for the series?
There will be four in total. I'm actually working on both 3 & 4 at the same time so they will come out close together, hopefully this summer.

I've read quite a few characters in the first book that have possibility of a spin off of their own story, any plans?
Yes! Katherine already has her own spinoff, MINE TO TARNISH. I may or may not make more spinoffs depending on how I feel and what readers ask for.

Our hero Zade is a mystery that is still hidden, do readers have more of him to look forward to in the upcoming read?
Even though the next book comes from Serena's sister Cynthia, there is still a lot of Zade to be had. Hopefully readers come to understand a lot more about him as they continue to see him.

Anything you want to share with the readers?
Thank you so much for being awesome! You are the best readers ever! And for those interested, I have a new book coming out January 28th, EVER DARKENING. It is a YA Fantasy that was an emotional roller coaster to writer. Can't wait for its release!
Thank you for having me, Pandora!
